I'm so behind!

Wow, I knew it had been awhile since I blogged but didn't realize it had been since July! So much has been going on with the Johnson's since then and we are all doing well. Hannah will be 9 months old on Tuesday so since my last post I'm sure you can only imagine she's changed so much. I guess I'll start with August and some highlights from 7 months...

7 months old:
Hannah's biggest milestone at 7 months was her crawling. She had been trying all summer to figure it out and then all of the sudden she was a girl on the move! Now that she's crawling, there is never a dull moment in our house. Hannah is one of the most curious little girls and I've thought this even when she was a newborn but now that she's crawling, her curiosity is even more noticeable. Also, at the end of August, Hannah said "dada." Of course, both Curt and I were extatic that she said her first word but I was sort of jealous it wasn't "mama!" :) Hannah also has started eating some new foods in addition to her normal diet of baby food. She is now able to eat puffs and she loves them. One of her favorite things to do is sit in her high chair and eat her puffs like a big girl. She doesn't even need any help - she can feed herself! Here she is the first time she had puffs.

8 months:
Eight months was full of many, many  milestones for Hannah. First, we went to visit Josh, Lauren and baby Sean in Miami which meant Hannah's first plane ride. Being nervous by nature (thanks Dad), I was not looking forward to the flight because I was so worried that it would hurt Hannah's ears. As usual, my sweet girl did fantastically and slept the whole time going there and on the way home. She loved the airplane - mostly looking out the window.

Our trip to Miami was the first time we met our nephew and Hannah's cousin Sean. He was born in May and was 3 months old when we went down to visit. Hannah was so funny interacting with him. She is so much more active than he is even though she's only 5 months older but all she wanted to do was crawl on top of him, touch his face, and even eat his face...haha! I did manage to get a few good shots of Hannah and Sean before she clawed his eyes out.

We stayed at Lauren's grandmother's beach condo so we spent alot of time at the beach while we were there. Although it wasn't her first beach trip, it was really the first time that Hannah played on the beach. Again, I was nervous she'd hate the sand but it didn't phase her. In fact, she had it all over her and never once cried or whined about it. She LOVED it! Here is my beach baby covered in sand!

Once we got home from our wonderful trip, it was time for Hannah's first day at her new school. Hannah was able to stay home all summer with her Aunt Jan, Honey and both of her Nana's but because both of our Mom's headed back to school, it was time to go back to school for Hannah. She is going on Tuesdays and Fridays to Woodmont Baptist and she is having a ball so far. Here she is on her first day of school.

The other big 8 month milestones were Hannah starting to pull up and she finally said Mama! Also, she is waving like crazy and loves to wave "bye bye" to everyone that comes over or people she doesn't know when we are out in public. She's such a big girl and I cannot believe she'll be 9 months old this week! Can't wait to see what 9 months will bring!

4th of July weekend

We spent the holiday weekend in Nashville this year which is quite the change for us - especially me - as we've spent most of our 4ths at the beach. Although we weren't beachside, we did have a really nice weekend. Unfortunately, Curt had to work all weekend so during the daytime, Hannah and I spent alot of time poolside at my parents.

Another big event over the 4th weekend was Hannah's 6 month birthday! On Monday, July 4 Hannah was 6 months old! Hannah is growing so quickly and Curt and I are loving every minute with her. A few things to note about Hannah at 6 months - she has been teething for quite some time and the last week of June/first week of July her 1st tooth finally broke through her gums. She's so funny though because when you try to open her mouth to take a look at it she doesn't like it one bit. You can certainly feel it though! Then, last week (around the 7th or so), her 2nd tooth broke through. They are right next to each other, in the middle on the bottom. Hannah also is very active! She is sitting up very well on her own and loves to sit on the floor and play with all of her toys. Also, she is trying so hard to crawl! The other night she was lying on our bed and spotted my book on the opposite side. All of the sudden she started scooting herself (think army crawl) across the bed and made it over to to my book. She cannot figure out how to get up on her knees and really crawl but she is certainly trying to figure it out! Hannah is "cooing" like crazy and in fact it could sometimes me compared to screaming! She smiles all the time and even laughs outloud some...especially at Rhodes! Hannah is finally one a good schedule - she takes 2 solid naps a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and typically sleeps 10-12 hours/night. She goes to bed around 8pm and usually sleeps until sometime between 6:30 and 8am depending on the day. Most of the time, she sleeps through the night, but we still have some nights where she wakes up and despite my attempts to let her cry it out, she needs a bottle. I've tried to let her go for up to 30 minutes but because I am working at some point I have to give in if she won't cry herself back to sleep. I think my boss would frown upon me sleeping at my desk :) We go for her 6 month physical tomorrow so I will have to report back as to how much she weighs and how tall she is.

Here are some photos from the weekend. Most of them are from Richland where we had dinner and planned to watch the fireworkks but Hannah didn't make it that long. We were home and Hannah was in bed before they even started I think! Oh well, we'll catch them next year!

This is a little adirondack chair my Mom bought Hannah for their pool. She really bought it with the intention of her using it next summer however she loves it already!

Playing before bedtime. EVERYTHING goes in her mouth!

Hannah loves her exersaucer. This was Saturday AM when she woke up...Hannah always is playing in her PJs in the mornings.

All About Curt

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind in our house! Curt recently had hip replacement surgery due to a condition in his hip called Avascular Nicrosis. Unfortunately, the reconstructive surgery he had in October to avoid a hip replacement wasn't successful (we knew this could be a risk) so on Friday, June 10th Curt had the total hip replacement. Thankfully, our prayers were answered and the surgery was a success! Curt did have to spend the night in the hospital for 2 nights so that meant Hannah had to stay with family so I could stay with him at Centennial. Hannah did get to come up for a very brief visit to see her Daddy and she was so happy to see him and we were so happy to see her!

We also recently celebrated Curt's first Father's Day! We started the celebration on Saturday night with my Mom's family at a dinner celebration at my Aunt Jan and Uncle Paul's house. The whole family was there - Nana, Poppaw, Honey, Albo, Jan, Paul, Matthew, Hillary, Parker, Keaton Collin and the 3 of us. It was so fun to have everyone together and especially fun for Hannah, Keaton and Colin to play together. Keaton and Colin are my cousin Matthew and his wife Hillary's twins who are 3 months older than Hannah. Now that Hannah can sit up (that's right we are sitting up!!) she played so well with them. I was a little worried that because they are older and used to playing with one another they might be a little rough with her (not purposefully of course) but she gave it right back to them! I think I even saw her grabbing one of their little faces! Here are some good shots:

This is Keaton and Hannah playing together with the exersaucer. Hannah has a jumperoo at home so she thought she could bounce in the exersaucer which was pretty funny to watch.

Curt's new job requires him to work on the weekends so Hannah and I got up early on Sunday and cooked him a special breakfast full of eggs, bacon, and hashbrown casserole. Hannah had already eaten her breakfast but she sat at the table and talked to her Daddy and helped him open his presents.

We also went to church with Albo and then went to brunch at Richland afterwards to celebrate. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures because Hannah was so tired at lunch and we had to rush and get out of there before she had a meltdown. On Sunday night after Curt got off work, we headed up to Clarksville to celebrate with his family. Hannah loved playing with her cousin Jacob. She smiled at him the whole time.

Hannah is 5 months old!

Today, Hannah is 5 months old!!! The past 5 months have been so wonderful and Hannah continues to bring us joy everyday. Hannah continues to be the happiest baby. She usually always has a smile on her face and makes the sweetest "coos." Curt heard Hannah laugh a few weeks ago and so did one of her teachers at school but sadly, I've still yet to hear it. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, she will start laughing regularly so I can hear it. Hannah also is working on sitting up. She wants to so badly but hasn't quite figured it out. Funnily enough, Hannah has loved to be held in a sitting position since she was about 10 weeks old so it doesn't surprise me that she is trying so hard to sit up on her own. I think that she will get there by the end of the month. Hannah still isn't sleeping through the night so Curt and I are looking forward to her growing out of that but for now we will continue to keep our fingers crossed. Hannah continues to love eating solids - she likes squash, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, bananas, apples, pears and even mangoes! Here are a few photos of Hannah trying out some news solids:

Hannah loves her jumperoo! Here is Hannah playing the other day - she was squealing and smiling the whole time!

In other news, we recently celebrated Memorial Day weekend with friends and family. On Saturday night, we went to Neel and Graham's for a cookout along with The Camps and The Mulloys. All the kiddos were there and the big kids (Maddie, Emalyn and Carrie) played in the blowup pool and with all the toys in the driveway. Hannah loved watching them and I know she will have so much fun with them next year when she's a little older. We tried to get a few pics of Hannah with her feet in the baby pool but she wasn't having it!

We also did alot of swimming at my parents over the holiday weekend. It was chilly a few days before the weekend so the pool wasn't quite warm enough for Hannah's liking. She hated it which was surprising (until we realized that water was too cold for her) because she loved the pool when we went to Sea Island in March. Mom got Hannah the cutest float but Hannah wasn't in the mood! She did like her Albo holding her and watching Mommy and Rhodes swim.

It has been so hot in Nashville this past week so we took Hannah swimming last night and she loved it! The pool was much warmer and Hannah loved swimming with her Mommy, Daddy and brother Rhodes! There is alot more swimming in our future this summer now that we know Hannah loves it!

Hannah is getting so big - 4 months!

When I signed on tonight to post, I didn't realize it had been well over a month since I updated everyone on what's been going on with The Johnsons! So much has been going on that I've hardly had time to do anything outside of our daily routine. I suppose the biggest update is that I started back to work on April 6th and Hannah started daycare at The Primrose School of Brentwood. Going back to work was so hard at first because I couldn't imagine not being with Hannah all day, every day but I have since adjusted to the idea. Her little school is very sweet and her teachers Ms Haley and Ms Christa are so kind. I know they take such good care of her and they always send me pictures of her smiling and happy so that made the transition much easier. For me, returning to work was actually exciting (once I got over leaving my little angel) because my boss gave me a promotion. I am about 100 times busier but I am really enjoying the new position at Cogent.

This past week, I took Hannah to see Dr. Long for her 4 month physical. He was so pleased with how she is growing and developing. Hannah weighed 14.4 pounds which is in the 70th percentile and is 25 inches long which is in the 95th percentile. I think she's going to be a tall little lady!! Dr. Long told me to start giving Hannah solids so we started her on rice cereal this week. Of course, she made hilarious faces with her first few bites but after some time, she started to like it. She eats cereal first thing in the morning and then at dinnertime and is doing well with it. I just can't believe that she's getting old enough to actually eat solids! Hannah also is becoming much more active. She rolls over and would go across the den floor if I'd let her. She also has found her feet and almost has figured out how to put them in her mouth. Hannah continues to be such a sweet, happy baby and Curt and I are enjoying all of the new things she is doing.

So everyone can see what Hannah is looking like lately, here are some pictures of some fun things we have done since the beginning of April (which was the last time I posted...I know, such a slacker!!). The week before I went back to work we visited Curt's Dad at the capitol. Hannah was so good and all the representatives loved her. The whole family was introduced once session started and we got to meet Speaker of the House Beth Harwell and Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey. Here are some pictures from the day.

April is a busy birthday month in both Curt's and my families. In fact, Curt's Mom and Grandmother were both born April 2nd and my birthday is April 4th. This year, Curt's grandmother turned 80 so Marsha had a special celebration at her house for my family and Curt's. Here are photos from the party.

Of course, we celebrated Easter. Hannah is a spoiled little girl because she had an Easter basket at home, her Honey's and her Nana's. I took a picture of her baskets from home and Honey's.

We also celebrated Mother's Day last weekend at my Mom's after church and then at Curt's parents for dinner. Curt wasn't able to join us during the day because he is now working on the weekends. It's so bittersweet because Curt's new job is a result of answered prayers but at the same time he and I don't have the same days off so quality family time is hard to come by lately. OF course, Curt didn't let his work schedule interfere with making it a special 1st Mother's Day for me. He and Hannah picked out beautiful earrings for me and gave me the sweetest cards.

Last but not least, here are some photos from Hannah's first cereal "dinner." Curt and I weren't thinking and gave her a bath first and then fed her. We learned out lesson!!
